We could start this discussion by suggesting that we’re comparing two Envi vape products to determine which one is your favourite, but (spoiler alert!) 180 Smoke is actually phasing out the Envi Boost soon. While we love the longstanding Envi flagship product, we are making room for the brand’s next gen offering: The Envi Apex. True to its name, this takes the Envi product to the next level (the Apex? Get it?), but what is it about these two Envi vapes that people like, and why is the Apex supplanting its predecessor’s shelf space at 180 Smoke?
Ultimately, the Envi Apex offers more volume in a bigger form factor. Apart from that, both feature a long list of flavour options, so let’s dig in to what sets each of them apart.
The Envi Boost disposable vape pen
The classic Envi Boost vape features a traditional, cylindrical shape. It is smooth to the touch with an anti-slip grip finish, and its compact 99.5 x 18mm frame makes it easy to use on the go.
A black matte finish gives the device a comfortable grip texture and nice, modern look. It also features a logo and accent colours that match the vape flavours, which adds the final touches to an overall carefully curated and clean design.
Using the Envi Boost is incredibly easy and straightforward, as it comes with no settings at all. After purchase, all you need to do is remove the caps and start drawing your puffs. The patterned base glows red as the device is in use to confirm correct operation with a familiar indicator. It’s easy to consider the Envi Boost disposable vape pens among the easiest and fastest ways to vape, and its consistent delivery and great flavour options has made it a mainstay at 180 Smoke since early 2021.
The Envi Boost delivers approximately 1500 puffs (varies depending on individual vaping patterns) of flavorful vapor with 5mL of e-liquid using a 1.4Ω mesh coil powered by a 900mAh battery, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy this smooth vaping experience. Each device is precharged and prefilled with a predetermined flavour and nicotine level, so, as a result, you know exactly what you are getting with each and every puff. It seems like a pretty straightforward product, aimed to please experienced or new vapers.
Like all Envi products, the Boost flavour selection is great. Some of the most popular sold through our website and multiple store locations include:
- Pink lemon: this one delivers a classic sweet and tart flavour that highlights the summertime beverage.
- Green apple: this one delivers sweet and tangy, crisp fruit flavour.
- Blue Razz: this one has a classic sweet and tart flavour that highlights this vibrant, unique fruit.
- Peach Berry: this one delivers a juicy and mouthwatering blend of sun-ripened flavours.
The Envi Apex Disposable Vape Pen
Now let’s get to the Envi Apex disposable vape pen, which is the newest addition to the Envi disposable vape pen series. Let’s start with the basics: just like the Envi Boost, this new Apex vape pen is also simple and straightforward to use. All you need to do is open the box, pull off the caps and draw some puffs. This is the Envi brand promise: High performance. High Quality. Easy to use. The Apex comes with the same look and feel (black matte finish) as the Boost and is available with identical flavour profiles, but, as noted earlier, it’s slightly bigger with a 180.2 x 21.1mm triangular frame that fits even more comfortably in your hand, and a single indicator light appears on the solid base.
Is bigger better? In this case, it seems like it might be. The Envi Apex quite literally sports higher capacities for satisfaction than the Envi Boost with 6mL of e-liquid and a 1100mAh battery, which increases the potential puff count for the Apex to up to 2500 from the Boost’s 1500. With the same intuitively puff activated 1.4Ω mesh coil consistently producing flavorful clouds of vapor, the Apex appears to deliver more of everything customers enjoyed about the Boost.
Here are some of our favourite Envi Apex flavours:
- Mango Peach Watermelon: this one delivers a sweet blend of juicy fresh fruit with a mildly cool finish.
- Lychee Watermelon Strawberry Iced: this one delivers a sweet and tangy blend of fruit and berries with an icy cool finish.
- Banana Iced: this one delivers a sweet and creamy blend of fresh fruit with an icy cool finish.
- Banana Blackberry Melon Iced: this one delivers a sweet, tart, and juicy blend of fruit and berries with an icy cool finish.
Envi Boost vs. Apex: the similarities
Let’s recap! The Envi Boost and the Envy Apex are both disposable vape pens, offered with identical flavour profile options. They both feature a smooth cylindrical shape that’s compact and easy to carry around and have the capacity for as many puffs as you need.
Both style vape pens are easy to use with no setup or interface, each using a puff activated 1.4Ω mesh atomizer to create vapor on demand. All devices have 20mg/mL of nicotine, and 180 Smoke only sells Envi disposable vape devices with nicotine salts. Both styles feature a matte black anti-slip high grip finish with accent colours that represent the flavour of juice in each individual device
Envi Boost vs Apex: the differences
The Envi Apex features an e-liquid capacity of 6mL, and is powered by an 1100 mAh cell delivering up to 2500 puffs. The Envi Boost, on the other hand, only has capacity for 5mL of e-liquid and has a 900 mAh battery, generating up to 1500 puffs.
The Envi Apex has a 108.2 x 21.1mm triangular frame with a single usage indicator LED on the base, whereas the Envi Boost has a cylindrical 99.5 x 18mm frame with an LED usage indicator that shines through the patterned base.
Envi Boost vs Apex: the verdict
While both Envi products have a lot going for them, sometimes you just have to make room on the shelf for the new kid on the block. Since the flavour profiles overlapped with identical options, opting for higher e-liquid volume, battery capacity, and puff count made the Apex a solid choice. Why go for less when you can go for more?
The only potential drawback of the Apex is its larger size. For those who prioritize compactness for portability and/or discretion, we recommend checking out our full list of disposable vape devices from other popular brands, including a wide range both smaller and larger.
What if I want less nicotine?
If you want nicotine less than 20mg/mL then unfortunately neither the Envi Boost nor the Envi Apex is for you, as both models are only manufactured in the one strength. If you’d like to use a different nicotine strength to achieve a different type of throat hit, we recommend using a refillable vape kit which will allow you to choose from a wide variety of options with freebase nicotine, hybrid nicotine, or nic salts. Or for more convenience, check out closed pod kits with prefilled pods which are offered in a variety of nicotine strengths and types by different manufacturers.
