To Whom It May Concern,
In light of new legislation currently facing vapers in British Columbia, I would like to express my concerns regarding these proposed regulations.
As it currently stands, the legislation would hurt legal adult vapers and the industry built to help them. While youth vaping is a serious concern, any action taken to solve this issue must also be done in a way that does not hurt adults that have chosen an alternative to traditional cigarettes.
Currently, the proposed regulations would drastically increase the cost of vaping and limit flavour access. Both of these actions reduce the incentive for adult smokers to switch to vaping and away from cigarettes. Given the decades of evidence proving that smoking tobacco is one of the greatest factors in all-cause mortality, disincentivizing people from switching away from it will gravely impact the health of our province.
In short, I hope that you do not move forward with any of these proposed legislations, without first consulting the stories and opinions of adult vapers, many of whom have used e-cigarettes to end their dependence on smoking.
Thank you,
