How Many Watts Should I Be Using? - 180 Smoke

How Many Watts Should I Be Using?

Aug 30, 2018 | E-cigarette Batteries, E-cigarette Tanks, E-cigarette/Vape Kits, How-to Guides, Vaping Wiki

Vaping at the correct wattage is essential to the overall health of your coil, as well as your vaping experience.

If your wattage is set too low for the coil’s resistance, you’ll risk excess e-liquid seeping into the centre of the coil, causing leaking and spitting. On the other hand, if your wattage is set too high, it can lead to the wick burning, ruining your coil.

Every tank and coil will have a different specified wattage range, so you’ll need to pay attention to ensure that your settings are in the correct range so that your vape can keep performing optimally.

Here are some methods of finding the resistance and recommended wattage range of your coil.

1. Check the Coil

The majority of coil heads will have the resistance as well as the recommended wattage or voltage range listed directly on the side of the metal housing. Depending on the type of tank you have, you may be able to view this text through the glass of your tank. Other tanks will require you to remove the coil from the tank in order to view it.

2. Check the Package

Select manufacturers will also list the resistance and power specifications on the outside of the coil’s package. These indicators are normally located on the side of the packaging, but different designs can have them placed on any face of the package.

3. Check the Internet

When in doubt, it’s always a good idea to ask the Internet. If there are no details of the power range on the coil or package, it’s likely that other users were confused about it as well. There are tons of websites and forums to ask questions or find answers on these topics, so you’ll most likely find what you’re looking for there. Our Vapers Community Forum is always available to assist you. Alternatively, you can check the manufacturer’s website for more information on your tank and coil.
